What after Lockdown 3.0? Sonia Gandhi questions Modi Government's strategy on Covid-19
Congress president Sonia Gandhi raised questions on Post-Lockdown plans and arrangement of Central government.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday questioned Modi Government on the exit plans for Lockdown. She asked about the criteria which center is using to judge how long the Coronavirus lockdown will continue. The Lockdown 3.0 is ending on May 17 but the total number of cases in India keeps on ascending in spite of proceeding with lockdown third phase across the Nation.
At the meeting with chief ministers of Congress-ruled states, Party president Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh brought up issues on the Center's arrangement after lockdown 3.0. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and other leaders were also present at the meeting held through video conferencing.
Meanwhile, Sonia Gandhi addressed the Modi Government and asked, "What after May 17, what criteria is Center utilizing to decide, how long lockdown will proceed?". Manmohan Singh, as well, has looked to know about lockdown exit plans and says, "We need to know, as Soniaji said, what will happen after lockdown 3.0?"
So far a total of 49,391 Covid-19 positive cases have been recorded in India, while 1694 people have died across the country. Over 2,900 new coronavirus cases with 126 deaths are being reported in 24 hours.
The Central Government has extended nationwide lockdown till May 17 whereas Telangana has broadened the lockdown in the state till May 29. With the lockdown being loose across India, alcohol shops reopened in various states, including Delhi, triggering massive crowds that have sparked fears once again. Long lines of people queuing up outside the alcohol shops are presently a typical sight each morning till evening in many of the states.
Meanwhile, the total number of positive coronavirus cases in National capital has risen to the mark of 5,104, in which 206 cases were recorded on Tuesday, May 5. However, 1,468 patients have been recovered yet but 17 are on the ventilator as well.
5,104 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the state so far and the number of cases is doubling in 11 days, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain stated today.
