Amid the speculation of Lockdown 4.0, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation today at 8 pm. PMO announced it on twitter as, "Shri @narendramodi will be addressing the nation at 8 PM this evening." This address coming a day after his meeting with chief ministers of different states over the Covid-19 condition and lockdown as well.

On Monday, May 11, PM Modi led a six-hour-long meeting with all Chief ministers to know about the condition of Coronavirus in the nation. It was indicated in the meeting that the nation may face the fourth lockdown with some relaxations.

On Monday, while talking through video conference PM Modi discussed the road ahead in India's battle against the novel coronavirus. He said the need was to decrease the transmission rate of Covid-19 and to expand public movement step by step while following all the rules. "I am of the firm view that the measures required in the 1st phase of lockdown were not required during the 2nd phase and correspondingly the measures required in the 3rd Phase are not required in the 4th" PM stated in the meeting.

Last time Pm Modi had addressed the nation on April 14 when he had declared the expansion of the across the country lockdown till 3 May. The announcement of the third phase of lockdown till May 17 was declared by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs through a notification. Right now India is in the third phase of a lockdown or lockdown 3.0 which started on May 4 and shall end on May 17.

He also asked the stated to give a blueprint from by May 15 on a broad strategy on how to deal with various nuances during & after the gradual easing of lockdown.  He also stressed the need for, maintaining social distancing till a vaccine is not found and especially as the country looks at a gradual withdrawal of the lockdown.

PM Modi also asked the states to give a blueprint with suggestions and illustrated strategies by May 15 on the changes to the current rules after the gradual easing of lockdown. He also focused on the strict requirement of, keeping up social maintaining social distancing until a vaccine is not found.

Meanwhile, the death due to Covid-19 reached 2,293 and the total number of cases rose to 70,756 across the nation today. The most elevated number of 23,401 confirmed cases is from Maharashtra, trailed by Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, as per the according to the data given by Union health ministry.
