PM Modi Sends Good Wishes to Maldivian President on New Year

Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked to President of Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih & conveyed good wishes for the New Year 2020 to him and people of the strategically important Indian Ocean Island.
The telephonic conversation has come days after Foreign Minister of Maldives Abdulla Shahid visited India for the 6th India-Maldives Joint Commission Meeting in Delhi.
On this the Indian Embassy in Maldives said, "Prime Minister @narendramodi had a telephonic conversation with President @ibusolih. Conveyed good wishes for 2020 to him and the people of Maldives".
As a close ally and maritime neighbor, India is committed to partner with Maldives for its development, PM Modi said last month. Indian PM paid a 2-day visit to the Maldives in the month of June, which was his first bilateral trip after his reflection for a 2nd term.
In 2018, he had visited Maldives to attend President Solih's swearing-in ceremony.
