Irrfan Khan passed away on Wednesday in Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. The 'Angrezi Medium' star struggled a tumor for several months and came back again to Mumbai a few months prior in the after being treated in London.

India is in a big shock after the sudden death of Irrfan Khan, an extraordinary Bollywood actor. Irrfan Khan passed away on Wednesday afternoon in Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Irrfan was admitted to the hospital's ICU on Tuesday with a colon infection. He took his last breath at the age of 53. People from all fields paid their tribute to the exceptional actor and human being as well.

Prime Minister Modi paid tribute to the magnificent actor. He tweeted "Irrfan Khan's demise is a loss to the world of cinema and theatre. He will be remembered for his versatile performances across different mediums. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and admirers. May his soul rest in peace,"

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Condoles on Twitter and wrote "I'm sorry to hear about the passing of Irrfan Khan. A versatile & talented actor, he was a popular Indian brand ambassador on the global film & TV stage. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family, friends & fans at this time of grief,"

Condoling his death, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said Irrfan Khan is "one of the most exceptional actors of our time".

Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar tweeted, "Irfan Khan was a versatile actor. Sorry to hear about his demise. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fans. Om Shanti."

Union Minister Smriti Irani said "He etched every character in our memories with sheer talent". "How do you mourn his passing away for he breathes in the characters he left behind," she said.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot tweeted "I am saddened and shocked to know about the untimely demise of one of our country's most versatile actors, #IrrfanKhan. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fans. May God give them strength. May his soul rest in peace,"

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor wrote on Twitter "Saddened beyond measure by the passing of a human being I had never met, but who gladdened my heart and the hearts of millions with his incandescent talent. RIP @irrfank, gone when he had so much more to give."

"Surrounded by his love, his family for whom he most cared about, he left for heavenly abode, leaving behind truly a legacy of his own. We all pray and hope that he is at peace," Irfan's family said in a statement.

Irrfan had lost his 95-year-old mother on last Saturday in Jaipur. According to news agency ANI, due to the coronavirus lockdown, the actor couldn't travel from Mumbai to Jaipur and paid his last respects to his late mother through video conferencing.

The actor's last Hindi film was Angrezi Medium, which released on March 13 this year. Irrfan khan lived in Mumbai with his wife Sutapa Sikdar and his two children, Babil and Ayan.
