The central government is planning to promote organic farming to boost Indian agriculture and commodity market into a self-dependent & self-sufficient mode. This is due to the huge crisis in the global market because of the Coronavirus effect.

According to reports, the Bihar state government will be promoting "organic farming" in all 38 districts. It will sanction Rs 155 crore for developing "organic corridors" in 13 districts of the state, as per Prem Kumar, Agriculture Minister of Bihar. 

Organic Certification Work to be done:

The Agriculture Minister said, "Organic Corridor" is being developed on both sides of the Ganges from Buxar to Bhagalpur district of the state. He added, “Organic certification work will be done in 21,000 acres during the year 2020–21.”

According to reports, in the Horticultural Product Development Scheme that was launched in 23 districts of the state, the farmers will be given 90% grant (up to Rs. 10 lakhs) to set up the processing unit of the product. In such way farmers can directly market their produce by processing, packaging and branding it.

"Krishi Karman" Award:

After implementing "agricultural design" across the state, Bihar has received the prestigious "Krishi Karman" award 5 times for its achievements in rice, wheat & maize production. As per official reports, “The state government has started a "Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali" campaign and Rs 24,524 crore will be spent under it. 

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana status:

The government is committed to increase the income of farmers, said the Agriculture Minister. Under the "Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana", Rs 2,745.82 crore has been transferred to the bank accounts of around 56 lakh farmers.

Subsidy for Organic Farming:

Organic Farming Promotion Scheme gives training to the farmers and farmer advisors of the cluster at Bhagalpur Agricultural Office. The grant will be given by the government on organic farming. According to reports, there is a provision to grant Rs 11500 per acre. Around 365 farmers from Sultanganj & Nathanagar cluster and farmer advisors of the respective panchayats will be participating in the program.
