Delhi Police Arrested ISIS Linked Couple For Provoking Anti-CAA Protests
The accused couple was in contact with the senior members of ISIS from Afghanistan.
Recently, a couple has been allegedly arrested by the Delhi Police as they are involved with ISIS. They are identified as Jahanjeb Sami (36) and his wife Hina Bashir Beg (39). On sunday, police arrested them from south Delhi's Jamia Nagar in Okhla.
The couple belongs to Srinagar and residing in Okhla from August after the Article 370 abolished in Jammu & Kashmir.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah said the couple was active and provoking the protests against the Citizenship amendment law.
As per the sources, Kushwah added "They were promoting the Islamic state's ideology of hatred. The couple was provoking Muslims to take up violent struggle against the state".
In the aftermath of the incident, police found digital gadgets, objectionable materials and inciting books to sell the concept of jihadist.
DCP Kushwaha said that they been actively participating in the anti-CAA protests of Shaheen Bagh & Jamia for the last 3 months. The couple used to provoke the protesters in the name of Jihad to delay CAA protest.
Police interrogation revealed that they were running unidentified accounts on various social media platforms including, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc.
As per the investigation, the accused couple was in contact with the senior members of ISIS from Afghanistan. They were also operating an account named "Indian Muslim Unite" to engage more people against the CAA act.
DCP further added that the couple was spreading objectionable materials against the Indian government for approving the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
However, the police official team seized the inciting material such as laptop, four mobile phones, an external hard disc from their residence.
Though, the interrogation is going on and a case has been already registered on them.
