Legendary actor Dr Shreeram Lagoo passed away on Wednesday at the age of 92. His role as Ganpatrao aka Appasaheb Belvalkar in the famous Marathi play 'Natasamrat' received a lot of appreciation and love from all the quarters. The play was written by Kusumagraj (Vishnu Vaman Shirwadkar). He played the role of Professor Gopal Krishna Gokhale in 'Gandhi'.

Legendary actor Dr Shreeram Lagoo passed away on Wednesday at the age of 92. His role as Ganpatrao aka Appasaheb Belvalkar in the famous Marathi play 'Natasamrat' received a lot of appreciation and love from all the quarters. The play was written by Kusumagraj (Vishnu Vaman Shirwadkar). He played the role of Professor Gopal Krishna Gokhale in 'Gandhi'.

The prominent personality was known for his character roles in films where he acted in over 250 films including Hindi and Marathi films as well as Gujarati plays, and directed over 20 Marathi plays. Prominent Bollywood actor Richi Kapoor condoled the sudden demise of the star and tweeted, "R I P. One of the most natural spontaneous actors, Dr. Shreeram Lagoo sahab leaves us. Did several films way back. Unfortunately never got to work with him in the past 25/30 years. He had a retired life in Pune. Love you Dr. Sahab." Paresh Rawal also tweeted, "Truly a GREAT theatre actor Dr Shreeram Lagoo Saab is no more . AUM Shanti ." Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit also mourns over the sudden demise and tweeted, "Sad to know about the death of a great actor Shriram Lagoo ji at the age of 92. The theatre & film industry will miss him. Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Information & broadcasting also tweeted, "My tributes to all time great artists Shreeram Lagoo. We have lost a versatile personality. A unique theatre actor dominated silver screen and created impact. He was social activists simultaneously."
